As we close out this year we’d like to thank each of every one of you for being a part of Park Lane West and the Tri-City area. We wish you all a very safe and happy holiday weekend.

Remember the American Automobile Association (AAA) is running their holiday Free Tipsy Tow Home service for New Year’s Eve  (December 31, 2011 – January 1, 2012) for anyone in Northern California, offerings free local tows for those who have celebrated a bit too much to be on the roads. You don’t have to be a AAA member to get a free tow.

Write the number down and keep it in your car’s glove box: 800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP). Just tell the AAA operator, “I need a Tipsy Tow,” and a truck will be on its way.

And for those of you using local transit, BART has extended hours for carefree weekend travel. From the BART site:
BART to Extend Hours Until 3 am
BART service normally ends around midnight, but on Saturday, December 31, 2011, BART trains will continue to run until around 3 am Sunday, January 1, 2012. Trains will run at their normal intervals during the extended hours. For example, if your train arrives at your favorite station at 11 pm, it will also arrive 12 am, 1 am, 2 am and 3 am.

Monthly Mortgage Payments Almost 40% Cheaper Than 2006

Perhaps it is time to find your NEW home at Park Lane West in Fremont. Housing affordability improved dramatically because of declines in both prices and mortgage interest rates, according to David Stiff, chief economist at Fiserv. “The monthly mortgage payment for a median-priced single-family home is now $700, compared to $1,140 in 2006 — a decline of nearly 40%,” he said in comments on the latest release from Fiserv. Home prices in the U.S. will decline 3.6% into mid-2012 and then rebound 2.4% in second half 2012 through the first half 2013, according to Fiserv Case-Shiller projections.

Price declines and low mortgage rates have resulted in a ratio of monthly mortgage payments to median family income that is the lowest on record based on Fiserv analytics.

Housing affordability improved dramatically because of declines in both prices and mortgage interest rates, according to David Stiff, chief economist at Fiserv (FISV: 57.13 +0.46%). “The monthly mortgage payment for a median-priced single-family home is now $700, compared to $1,140 in 2006 — a decline of nearly 40%,” he said in comments on the latest release from Fiserv.

Home prices in the U.S. will decline 3.6% into mid-2012 and then rebound 2.4% in second half 2012 through the first half 2013, according to Fiserv Case-Shiller projections.Fiserv’s indices look at home price trends in 384 U.S. markets. Prices fell in 340 markets, with 302 of them hitting new lows in the second quarter.

The National Association of Realtors found a similar trend. On Wednesday, the trade group revealed that the median price on existing home sales fell in most of the 150 metropolitan areas surveyed by the organization in the third quarter.

Price declines and low mortgage rates have resulted in a ratio of monthly mortgage payments to median family income that is the lowest on record based on Fiserv analytics. Be sure to mark your calendars for the 19th Annual Festival of India, which takes place on August 13th & 14th, 2011.  The festival is a celebration of Indian culture, showcasing and sharing India’s rich heritage. There is dancing, music, drama and even fashion shows to entertain and educate as well as a variety of booths selling food, garments, jewelry literature, arts, crafts and information resources.

There is a parade (route pictured below) on Sunday as well as Mela (Fair) on Saturday and Sunday. A complete program schedule can be found here.

This event has continued to garner participants from all over Northern California, and has attracted luminaries and dignitaries from all over the world. The festival organizers have continued to organize this Festival which is intended to give our communities an opportunity to work together and present this Festival year after year. Every year, the attendance has grown and has allowed our communities, to get a better understanding of the culture, the arts, the music and foods of the Indian American community and allow our communities to further strengthen our bonds with each other.
