All Things Mountain View

logoBack in December 2009, we posted a short entry summarizing the I Love Mountain View Site.  At that point the website was still relatively new but we saw great potential for the site becoming one of the better local resources for all who live, work  and play in Mountain View.

Well, almost a year later, the website has exceeded our expectations. The site is actually a blog site sponsored by the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce. Well vetted, with an attention for local vendors and activities, it is an excellent resource and one that should not be missed.

“I Love Mountain View” blog covers a variety of topics regarding life in our exciting community. It’s rare to find a site that addresses multiple age groups and a variety of topics.

They have categorized and tagged the posts so searching their site is very easy.  A RSS feed and an easy-to-read community calendar round out the site.  The site is sure to have  something for every member of the family:

  • Date Night
  • Annual Events
  • Family Activities
  • Grown Up Activities
  • Interesting People
  • Start Ups
  • Teen Activities

The blog is well-written and has consistent updates…a rare find in the world of blogs. Gables End loves the site as an excellent, local resource and  we always look forward to future posts focusing on living the good life in Mountain View. Thanks I Love MV……you’re the best!

Recently posted on the Savvy Cellar Facebook Page:

“Yeah, Mtn View construction complete! Waiting on ABC license . . . sigh. In the meantime, we are cranking on internal operations – tasting a lot of bread to ensure only the best selection!:) 1 to 2 weeks to go. Opening date to be announced soon! Watch this space . . .”

Spring Festival at Sakoon, Get Happy Mountain View!

It's Spring Festival at Sakoon

It’s Springtime and that means we begin to emerge from our nests and look forward to mingling, meeting and mixing it up. Gables End offers homeowners the chance to live near work at companies like Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, PAMF, Blogger, UStream, Actel, Siemens, Symantec, Intuit and Nokia. And while heading home for a quick cup of soup may seem dreamy in the wintertime, meeting up for lunch downtown or mingling with co-workers after hours is what makes our work-week go by faster during Spring and Summer.  Downtown Mountain View has an amazing selection of great restaurants and offers the kind of ethnic selection that is usually only found in large cities.  What’s new nearby Gables End?

The San Francisco Brewers Guild is putting on an event that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.  They already have 92 published events with more coming.  The event was summed up in one clever sentence – “San Francisco Beer Week Is Like Godzilla, Only Bigger (And Not Angry)”.

We’ve listed a couple of “not to be missed” beer loving events in the South Bay:

Brew On Premise (BOP) Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company
What if you could make your own beer on a professional brewing system, under the guidance of award-winning brewers? During the approximately 5-hour process you will make enough beer for a 13.2 gallon keg or about 5 cases of 22oz bottled beers.

1111 Industrial Road Belmont, CA

Mountain View – Giving Thanks Back to the Community

cops-and-gobblers_w_border

Mountain View is a very special community that gives to those in need.

This sense of community was personified over the weekend when more than 150 Mountain View community members gathered to organize and deliver Thanksgiving care baskets filled with food, vouchers for turkeys and stuffed animals to 270 families in need this holiday season.  This marked the 13th annual “Cops and Gobblers” event.

“The day went very well,” said organizer Bruce Barsi, adding that the volunteer turnout also made the day a success. “They get as much, if not more, out of it than the recipients,” he said.*

This show of charity was made possible by the Mountain View Police Association, with the help of the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs and the Challenge Team.

Gables End is proud to be part of such a generous and giving community.

Happy Thanksgiving from our team at Gables End.
As a reminder, we will be closed Thurday (11/26) and Friday (11/27) in observance of the holiday.

Cocktail Time- Molly MaGees in Mountain View

My friends and I love going out for drinks in Mountain View.  The vibe is chill, the people are cool, and the music is great.  There is a wide selection of bars but my ultimate fav is Molly Magees.  Def a cool hangout either for a cocktail during happy hour or to meet up later in the night to party with friends.  http://www.fibbars.com/  Check it out!

Partying in downtown Mountain View

Check out this bar guide when you are on Castro Street or anywhere else in Mountain View.  My buddies at Gables End clued me in.

Victoria is a bar hoppin’ pro, and she swears by it!
